Slanted Rod Holder Base

Our most popular rod holder base pictured with the Down East holder. The style is great for adding the extra reach over the side of your gunnel to get your "down rods" more vertical, or to simplify have less of the butt grip of your rod inside the boat. Like all of our rod holders these bases allow for extremely fast, one handed tipping of the rods. This is great for fast lure depth changes, easier effort in checking and setting lines, or to simply move the rod tip to dodge obstacles. Once the angler becomes accustomed to interactively trolling with our style of bases they will become more efficient on the water, which leads to catching more fish. The base plates fit most major brands of track, providing the track will accept 3" wide by 1/4" thick insert profile. Can be ordered with out any holder (Base only), this option is great for the customers who already have Down East "Salty" holders. Can also be ordered with a Down East "Salty", or with a Fat A.Z. Tube.

Straight Rod Holder Base

The rod holder base that started it all, the straight base is a basic upright base that cradles a Down East "Salty" holder, or Fat A.Z. Tube. These holders have the ability to tip the rod one handed on the fly. Great for a quick change of lure depth or to have a rod tip dodge objects in the water. The base plates fit most major brands of track, providing the track will accept 3" wide by 1/4" thick insert profile. Also the base plates have the standard bolt pattern for the S-17 Down East should you wish to bolt direct. Can be ordered with out any holder (Base only), this option is great for the customers who already have Down East "Salty" holders. Can also be ordered with a Down East "Salty", or with a Fat A.Z. Tube.

Fat A.Z. Aluminum Clam Shell

Attention: 1. If your rod is tight to fit in a regular Down East, it will be tight to fit in the standard size. Select "Over sized" option. Over sized clam shells are made by machining the bore on standard size clam shell, there will be a delay in shipping to allow us time to machine the bore. 2. If your "cup" that the clam shell fits in to has wear on the indexing tabs, it is advised to order the aluminum clam shell with a new cup. Failure to do so can lead to rod holder malfunction. For the angler who requires heavy duty, we offer this fully machined aluminum direct drop in replacement clam shell for Down East "Salty" holders. This is just for the clam shell, no other components. This is meant to be a swap out for the original Down East clam shell. If you are looking for a complete Down East "cup" and Fat AZ clam shell please select the option in the drop down menu.

Extension Bracket

Click on the photo to see mounting options. This bracket is used for a couple different jobs. Job #1, Traditionally mounted track. Several times we have had customers come to us saying they have mounted their track to far inward on their gunnels. Where this can be an issue is if you are looking to run a down rod. What then happens is when you go to tip the rod into the water, the rod will hit the gunnel of the boat and not really achieving what you are looking for in a down rod. Sometimes even with the added reach of our "Slanted" bases cant over come the distance, this bracket will put you out even further. In combination of this bracket and our slanted uprights you will pick up those precious inches to get that perfect down rod. Job #2, Inside gunnel mounted track. Some boats do not have a wide gunnel, so an option some anglers choose is to mount their track on the inside vertical part of their gunnel. This bracket in combination with our "Slanted bases" can get you a very robust and useable rod holder system that performs like a top mounted track.

Fat A.Z. Tube

Fat A.Z. Tube is a optional holder that can be placed in ANY Fat A.Z. Rod Holder base. These would be primarily used for planner board rods in a trolling spread. They still offer the ease of the tipping that the Fat A.Z. bases are known for.

The tube can be mounting in the base 4 ways, giving options to the user on how they would like their setup to fit.

Down East Salty

Riser

Some situations call for a rod to sit higher, this is where the risers come in. Choose between 2" and 6". Not only does the riser give your holder a lift, but it also gives options for indexing the rod every 22.5 degrees. This is not an on the fly adjustment, set it prior to fishing and enjoy a sturdy set up.
